Chapter 16 | Coastal Notes
The gorse is already in full bloom - turning the coast yellow, with that unmistakable coconut scent drifting through the hedgerows.
Arki and I have been out picking flowers for our first batch of Lantic Gin Original - about a month ahead of schedule. One thing I’ve learned since the start: nature doesn’t wait for us!
The gorse petals don’t dominate the gin - they sit softly in the background, bringing subtle notes of vanilla and almond (rather than the coconut you might expect), and a smooth, almost creamy balance. Most importantly, they carry a true sense of the coast into every bottle of Lantic Gin.
And honestly… it’s hard to call it work when you’re out in the morning sunshine, gathering these delicate petals on the cliffs above Lantic Bay.
